This excursion is worth the trip from the coast alone. Alte is located in an unspoilt, fertile landscape, nestled between the Serra de Monchique and the Serra do Calderão. On both sides of the path there are olive and almond plantations on stony slopes. Figs and oranges also grow in the area.

The place itself is a composition of the fresh white of the houses and the strong colors of oleander and jacaranda. It flows green and colorful over every wall - the place looks adorned.

The parish church (Manueline portal from the 16th century) and the chapel Nossa Senhora de Lurdes, which is decorated with rare Sevillian tiles, are worth seeing. At the end of the village there is a pretty garden on the Fonte Grande, a collection of different
Swell. At a small waterfall you can linger comfortably under shady trees.
