The climatic diversity of Tunisia

Similar to its geography, Tunisia's climate is very diverse.

In the north, the weather is typically Mediterranean: warm summers, mild winters and high rainfall.

The southern mountain ranges and the east coast show a noticeably drier and more continental climate.

The weather in the central Tunisian steppe shows its capricious side. There, sometimes long dry and hot spells alternate with cold spells and heavy rains.

The area south of the salt lakes, on the other hand, is completely characterized by the desert climate. Cold winter nights contrast with summer temperatures with values of over 50 ° C. There is rain there only in the "cold" season. In summer the extremely dry and hot Scirocco wind from the Sahara or the mild and humid Chergui wind from the sea often blows.
