Coastal town with fishing port, lagoon islands and typical flair
Discover Olhão, a town shaped by its fishermen, common people, storytellers and legends. Olhão is also known for its cubist art, which is unique in southern Europe. With your guide, you will discover the streets and avenues of the historic center.
Every Saturday it gets very busy around and in the market halls of Olhão, where farmers from the region offer their colorful splendor of fruit, vegetables, honey, fish, herbs and much more at many stalls.
The city lies right in the heart of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, with its maze of canals, islands and sandbars, which stretches some 60 km along the Algarve. It also has the second largest fishing port in the Algarve. In addition to fishing, the traditional activities of the local population include salt production and collecting mussels and shellfish. The local ferry will take you across to Culatra. One of those many islands where you will have time to swim and relax on the fantastic white sandy beach with its crystal clear waters. To make your day unforgettable, this excursion includes a traditional lunch of freshly grilled fish from the sea and mussels from the Ria Formosa. In the afternoon, the journey continues through the Ria Formosa back to Olhão.
