Description
Exclusive excursion at DER Touristik
After being picked up at your meeting point, leave the south of the island towards Las Palmas.
The first stop is in the popular Vegueta district. This is where the old town of Las Palmas is located, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990. During a small tour through the old town you will see the cathedral, the old town hall, old mansions and the popular Santana square. The travel guide gives you relevant information and explanations about the history of the city, the island of Gran Canaria, but also about Christopher Columbus, who regularly made stops on the island on his voyages of discovery.
In the famous shopping street Triana you have some free time, which you can use for example to visit the Columbus Museum or for a stroll in the Calle Mayor de Triana. The pedestrian zone offers a wide range of shopping and leisure opportunities.
From there, continue to AltaVista, where you can enjoy panoramic views over the city's bay.
The tour then continues to the “Poema del Mar” aquarium, which translates as “poem of the sea”.
This spectacular large aquarium opened its doors for the first time in 2018 and quickly became a magnet for visitors. The aquarium consists of 3 areas (jungle area, reef part and deep sea), where you can admire about 350 different species of native and exotic sea creatures. The interesting, modern architecture and the huge glass windows invite you to linger and study the underwater world. The "Poema del Mar" is certainly one of the most spectacular aquariums in which you can take a great tour of the impressive underwater world.
After visiting the aquarium, you will have plenty of free time at the Santa Catalina Park. There is a vibrant zest for life around the park, with many shops, bars and restaurants. Use the time to have lunch, to take a walk on the beach "Las Canteras" or to go shopping.
Our advice: The first child under 12 travels free on this tour when accompanied by an adult!
