“Pame na fame…” is a sentence that you will surely hear often, as “going out to dinner” in Greece is one of the most important social events.
The Greek cuisine is not a paradise for gourmets, but offers many tasty dishes.
You don't need to be afraid to order either. There are hardly any communication problems in small restaurants and taverns. If you can't read the menu, just go to the kitchen. Many Greeks do it that way too. Either all cooked dishes are displayed there in a counter or you can look into the pots on the stove and then show the waiter what you would like to have.
Incidentally, the Greeks eat very stomach-friendly, namely lukewarm. So if you feel that the food isn't called enough for you, this is normal.
The table community is of great importance in Greece. For example, you can eat together from the many starter plates. The main course is then served individually to everyone. Those who eat together also pay together. Demanding an invoice for each individual is called "the German way" here.
"Kali Orexi!" Or "Bon appetit!"
