Description
Excursion to the land of the Mayas
The location of this excavation site is what makes Tulum so special: it was built on a rocky plateau directly on the Caribbean beach. The strong wall testifies to the fortress character of the city, which was still inhabited when the Spaniards arrived.
More than any of the buildings, however, you will be captivated by the breathtaking and unforgettable view of the Caribbean that you have from here. Coba was only rediscovered at the beginning of this century. It has only been restored to the extent that the buildings can withstand the ravages of time, otherwise the original condition - impressive pyramids surrounded by dense vegetation - has been preserved. Even today you can find remains of candle wax in some places, because the Mayas who live nearby have not yet forgotten their old gods.
