Description
One of the 7 new wonders of the world
This day trip takes you to the mysterious capital of the Mayan Empire, where the mysteries of magic, ceremony and human sacrifice merge with one of the most advanced civilizations of its time. From the 6th to the 10th century this temple city with its majestic and world-famous pyramid of the god Kukulkan, the monumental ball court and the observatory, which is still mysterious today, was built in the jungle of Yucatan.
The name Chichen Itza means something like "The mouth of the fountain of the Itza" and thus probably refers to the cenote (= fountain) that was found near the pyramid. One of the most fascinating archaeological sites on earth is waiting for you to discover it.
After the tour with a German-speaking guide, you will go to a nearby restaurant where you will be served lunch and have the opportunity to swim in a cenote. You will then drive to the city of Valladolid, where you will have time for a short stroll through the historic main square.
During the interesting drive through the landscape of Yucatan you will receive detailed information about the history and present of Mexico.
