Import of goods by private individuals
In general, there is an exemption limit of SFr. 300.- for goods for private use that are personally imported into travel. If the total value of the goods carried is more than SFr. 300.-, all goods are subject to duty. Allowances and limits are only granted once per person and day.

The following allowances apply:

Alcoholic drinks
People aged 17 and over may import 5 liters of alcoholic beverages up to 18% vol. And 1 liter over 18% vol. Once a day, duty-free.
In addition, the following customs duties apply:
Alcoholic beverages up to 18% vol .: sFr. 2.- per liter
Alcoholic beverages from 18% vol .: sFr. 15.- per liter
In addition, VAT at 8% of the value of the goods is due.

Tobacco products
People aged 17 and over are allowed to import the following amounts duty-free once a day:
250 cigarettes or cigars or 250 g of other tobacco products.

In addition, the following customs duties apply:
Cigarettes / cigars sFr. 0.25 per piece
other tobacco products sFr. 0.10 per gram
In addition, VAT at 8% of the value of the goods is due.

hen and jewellery
If brought in personally, hair and jewelery worth sFr. 300 duty-free if no other goods are carried.
Attention: If you carry counterfeits, for example designer branded articles or jewelry with counterfeit precious metal stamps, Swiss customs are obliged to confiscate the counterfeit goods. Buy valuables abroad only in recognized specialist shops!
