Pharmacy - farmacía
You can recognize Spanish pharmacies by a green cross. Normal opening hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 13 p.m. and from 16 p.m. to 19 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 13 p.m. If you need medication outside of these times, you will find a notice in every pharmacy with the address of the nearest emergency pharmacy. You can also get information from your hotel reception.

If you have taken out health insurance abroad, get a receipt for all medication, which you submit to the insurance company in Germany.

Doctor
Your international health insurance certificate is valid for all state health insurance doctors. We recommend the HOSPITEN private hospital in Puerto del Carmen, as German-speaking care is also guaranteed there. You can reach the clinic via your hotel reception or via the toll-free telephone number 900 707 777 (24-hour hotline). In the case of additional travel insurance, you are considered a private patient here, as well as in the day clinics of Dr. Skinny. Bathing beaches on the east and south coast are mostly free of currents in normal wind conditions. However, strong undercurrents are to be expected on the north and west coasts. There are flags on many beaches to correctly assess the bathing weather

Banks and currency exchange
Banks are open Monday to Friday (except public holidays) from 9 a.m. to 14 p.m. in the summer months and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 13 p.m. in the winter months. Many have a CAJERO AUTOMATICO (cash machine) where you can withdraw money 24 hours a day with your debit or credit card. If you lose your debit or credit card, you should have it blocked immediately by telephone.

buses
The public buses are marked with the label ARRECIFE BUS / INTERCITY BUS. The target locations are shown in the windshield: Costa Teguise, Arrecife, Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca. The tickets are purchased from the driver on the bus. It is advisable to have change ready.

shopping
The Canary Islands enjoy a special status in the EU. Luxury items are accordingly cheaper. Please note the exact customs regulations. Basically, shopping in the capital Arrecife is cheaper. Here, however, you have to make sure that all shops are closed at lunchtime.
Opening hours: Mon.-Fri. from 9 a.m. to 13 p.m. and from 16 p.m. to 20 p.m. Compare the prices! Electronic devices are not significantly cheaper in reputable shops than at home.

Filming and photography
The landscape and fauna of the island offer an endless variety of great motifs. Photography and filming is generally prohibited in the religious buildings of the Canary Islands. The same goes for military objects. Violations can result in fines and even imprisonment. Nothing is as fascinating as foreign cultures and faces, but please note that some people are very sensitive to cameras. Therefore, ask beforehand if you can take a picture and respect people's privacy. In most cases, you will be allowed to take pictures.

You can attend Catholic services (in Spanish) in all churches on Lanzarote. In Puerto del Carmen (Catholic church in the old port), for example, on Saturdays at 20.30:11 p.m. and on Sundays at 19 a.m. and XNUMX p.m.

Internet
Most hotels have Internet connections or WiFi, and you sometimes have to pay a fee for using them. In some cafés, bars and restaurants you can use your own laptop / tablet to access the internet free of charge via WLAN (ask for the access code).

tap water
The tap water is treated by seawater desalination plants and has no drinking water quality. It is safe to use for showering, brushing your teeth or cooking. To drink, please buy the appropriate mineral water (agua con gas) or non-carbonated water (agua sin gas).

Nightlife & discos
Puerto del Carmen
Casino: Casino de Lanzarote, Avd. de Las Playas 12, open every day 20-4 h. Passport or ID must be shown upon entry. Young people under the age of 18 are not allowed to enter. There is a restaurant and a cafeteria as well as a show program.
Nightclubs/bars: All night owls will find a large selection of bars, pubs and nightclubs on the beach road in Puerto del Carmen. The latter open from 21.30 p.m., but it usually only gets busy after midnight. There are also numerous dance cafés and bars with live music such as the Harley Rock Café, the Ruta 66 or the Tropical. In the Centro Atlantico shopping center you will find a wide range of bars. In the port there is the beer pub Cerveceria San Miguel.
At the Costa Teguise The El Cojote disco and the Pueblo Marinero bar (with live music) are particularly recommended.
In Playa Blanca At the ferry port, the Rooftops Bar and Bar 34 Limones are worth a visit. The Café del Mar at the Marina Rubicon and the Mojito disco in the Hotel Princesa Yaiza are also recommended.

Post
Post offices (Correos) can be found in every village.
Opening hours: Mon.-Fri. 8.30 a.m. - 14.30 p.m., Sat. 9.30 a.m. - 13 p.m.
Smaller post offices may deviate from these times.

Safety
We warn against pickpockets! Be sure to deposit your valuables in the safe, which you can rent at reception. Valuables are only insured there. Keep doors and windows closed when you leave your accommodation. In the event of theft, we recommend that the police take a report. It will help you register possible claims with your insurance company. Only one official translator is allowed to work with the police.

Sunbathing
Many guests misjudge the sun. Do not expect too many hours of sunshine in the first few days and use a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor, because the UV rays on the Canary Islands are stronger than on the mainland or the Balearic Islands. Even if you're not a big fan of hats, protect yourself with a hat! Sun loungers and parasols can be rented for a fee at almost every beach.

souvenirs
Would you like to bring something with you from Lanzarote to friends, "flower-makers" or "pet keepers"? The volcanic soap made in Lanzarote is a nice and light souvenir.

Sport
Golf: There is an 18-hole course in Costa Teguise and one in Puerto del Carmen above the hospital.
Mini golf: You can find it in various hotel complexes or, for example, in Puerto del Carmen opposite the Hotel VIK San Antonio.
Tennis: You can rent a court in many facilities even if you are not a guest of the hotel, for example in Puerto del Carmen Centro Deportivo Fariones.
Bowling: In the Deiland shopping center or in Puerto del Carmen near the Kontiki hotel.

Please do not let your children play unattended!

Taxi
Your hotel reception will be happy to call a taxi for you or you can hold a taxi on the street with a show of hands. Ask about the price before starting your journey so that there are no nasty surprises later. The prices are a little cheaper than in Germany, Austria and in

In the Canary Islands, seat belts are compulsory and there is an absolute ban on cell phones in the car, although the fees for penalties are much higher than at home. The penalties for alcohol or drug offenses are particularly high. Please note that in these cases you will not have any insurance cover. There are many cyclists on Lanzarote - they have priority over cars.

Valuables
Keep valuables, passport and travel documents in a safe in the hotel. The hotel or the organizer assumes no liability for stolen objects or amounts of money that have not been kept in the safe.
