The former fishing village now lives almost exclusively from tourism.
On the promenade at the harbor there are restaurants and bars with a wonderful view of the opposite islands of Yiali and Nissyros.
Shops and souvenir shops offer their goods in the lively streets.
Natural sandy beaches are to the right and left of the town center. The meadows and fields all around are covered with an abundance of red poppies and yellow daisies in spring.
