The village of Teror is located between Arucas and San Mateo in the northeast of Gran Canaria. About 15.000 people live here.
The Basilica de Nuestra Señora del Pino is worth seeing. It was built in 1481 in honor of the Blessed Virgin. The somewhat strange name of the basilica "Virgin of the Pine" can be traced back to an apparition of the Virgin, according to which the inhabitants of the village saw the Holy Virgin in a pine tree.
Also worth seeing are the beautiful Canarian houses with the massive wooden balconies that dominate the cityscape.
