The Roman Dam, also called “Al Kantara”, is an approximately 7km long road that connects Djerba in the southeast with the mainland. Through this connection, water comes to Djerba via a pipeline and electricity via a high-voltage line from the mainland, and the most important goods, such as food, building materials and textiles, also reach the island.
