Gran Tarajal is located in the south of the island and has 7.760 inhabitants. The third largest town on the island has Fuerteventura's second most important trading port. Gran Tarajal offers some cafes, restaurants, shops, a beach with dark sand and an idyllic promenade.

The extensive palm groves are worth seeing, especially in the valley of Gran Tarajal. The leaves and branches of the date palm and Canarian palm are the raw material for the production of basketry as well as for the typical Majorero hats that you can buy all over the island.
