Paradise island in the north

Holbox Island is northwest of Cancun and is approximately 42 miles long. It is separated from the mainland by a shallow lagoon that is home to countless flamingos, pelicans and other exotic birds and animals.

The island has an idyllic and relaxed atmosphere. Most of Holbox's residents make a living from fishing and it is not uncommon to see the fishermen walking the streets with their catch and nets.

Holbox's streets are white Caribbean sand and there are hardly any cars. The normal means of transport are small golf cars, which are also used here as taxis. To date, Holbox has only been visited by a few tourists. One reason for this is certainly the remote location. But those who end up on this island will find an impressive, almost paradisiacal nature.

One of Holbox's biggest attractions are the whale sharks, which can be found off the island's coast from June to September. There are organized whale shark safaris where you can watch these fascinating sea creatures up close from a boat and/or while snorkeling.

Dolphins, manta rays and turtles make their home here year-round, and a trip to Isla Pajaros can spot up to 140 native bird species.
