The holiday paradise of the Yucatan Peninsula

Along the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, from Cancun to Tulum some 130 km south and in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean, the Riviera Maya stretches with an overwhelming variety of plant and animal species, secluded beaches, fascinating ecological parks and archaeological sites.

In 1997, the Riviera Maya was presented worldwide under this name as a perfect alternative for guests who also want to experience something on vacation and not just indulge in beach life. This incredibly beautiful and interesting region has become an ideal place for two fast-growing tourism sectors: cultural and adventure tourism.

The most beautiful beaches of the Mexican Caribbean, a unique underground river and cave system, the lush jungle and the second largest coral reef in the world are waiting to be discovered.

Due to the balanced subtropical climate, the Riviera Maya is a holiday destination for the whole year. Here, spacious and comfortable hotel complexes were and are being built in and around the various towns.

Puerto Morelos
A former small fishing village that is becoming more and more important due to the construction of new hotel complexes.

Playa del Carmen
A sleepy fishing village just a few years ago, Playa del Carmen is now the largest tourist center in the Riviera Maya. The 18-hole golf course, its own hotel zone, the constantly growing town center with banks, numerous bars, restaurants and shops guarantee a varied holiday. Playa del Carmen is also the starting point for the journey to the island of Cozumel across the way.

Puerto Aventuras
This tourist town with a marina and a 9-hole golf course is around 25 km south of Playa del Carmen.

Akumal
The name Akumal means "place of the turtles" in English. The fact that the name is justified is proven by the numerous sea turtles that come ashore in this bay every year in June, July and August to lay their eggs.
