Best with phone cards
It works best with phone cards. While most cell phones can now be used from Mexico, keep in mind that the rates are still quite expensive.
There are various phone cards, some of which you can buy directly from your hotel and you will also find the corresponding phones there.
Some phone cards work on TELMEX public phones and are sold in many shops (e.g. OXXO), others only on special devices from the respective provider. You will receive information when purchasing the telephone cards. Tariffs vary depending on the provider.
How the phone cards work is very simple:
- Pick up the handset and dial the service number given on the card
- When prompted, enter the secret number of the telephone card (you must first scratch it off)
- Dial desired phone number
