Mexican pesos
The official national currency is the Mexican peso, but USD are also accepted, especially in the tourist centers (e.g. Cancun or Riviera Maya). Although the euro has become better known in the meantime, it is rarely accepted as a means of payment and when it is, then usually at poor rates.
We recommend that you exchange some money in any case. You can do this in your hotel, in banks or exchange offices.
In addition to cash, you can also exchange travelers checks, but Euro checks are not accepted. If you still have pesos left at the end of your holiday, you can exchange them for USD here on site, the exchange rate is much better than at the banks at home.
